Subject:
great series!
i strongly disagree with uniQ i say Ronald Howards Holmes is much better than jeremy brett's. jeremy played an old holmes. i mean old in age. i like Ronald Howards young holmes and for me anyway, a young sherlock holmes is what i have in mind whenever i have read the stories.

Passable TV play
Rather thin on the depth of detail alot of the original stories had, and of course made up significantly from the original material.
If you want real Holmes, get a copy of the Granada series with Jeremy Brett.

Another Fine Sherlock Holmes Mystery
Another fine Sherlock Holmes adventure from the mid 1950's television program. The plot, the pacing, and the featured and supporting cast were very good. It was well worth viewing.

Classic TV - A must for Holmes Fans
this site introduced me to Ronald Howard as Sherlock Holmes and I shall be for ever grateful. After watching the eight episodes available here, I treated myself to all 37 episodes made on a DVD collection!!
The TV series was never shown in the UK until a few years ago when a satellite channel called Bonanza continually repeated 8 episodes on a daily basis before going bust, They have recently reappeared as the Young@heart channel, repeating the same 8 episodes.
Howard is excellent as Holmes and his Dr Watson is almost as funny as Nigel Bruce was with Basil Rathbone. Archie Duncan (Little John from the 50s British Robin Hood TV series) plays a brilliant, if somewhat grumpy, Inspector Lestrade. The story lines are a little stilted and very dated but all in all, these shows are television history at its best.
Five Stars!!!!!

Watson meets Holmes
Excellent serial short. Good quality for its age. Provides the serial short version of Dr. Watson's chance association with Sherlock Holmes.
